Keto 7 Layer Dip
I recall in my pre-keto days where I would make a lovely 7 layer dip and sit down with a bag of chips and eat it for lunch or during a football game.
I loved that and I really missed being able to do that.
It was the bean layer that was going to be a stickler to figure out what to replace it with until I came up with the amazing recipe for roasted garlic keto hummus. Which, if you haven’t tried, you SHOULD!
Anyway, it just hit me that this hummus would work beautifully as the base layer for a low carb 7 layer dip.
So, I gave it a shot! And I’m glad I did.
Now, in reality, what is shown is a 6 layer dip because I did not put the optional tomatoes on it. I’m just not a tomato fan, BUT have at it if you like them!
Kitchen Essentials
I used an 8×10 pan. I know this is an odd size baking sheet, BUT it happens to be the baking sheet that I got for my air fryer/mini-oven combo. AND it was the perfect size.
I actually love using these mini baking sheets for other things as well because sometimes we just don’t need the full size one!
You can get one on amazon here!
Now, as I state in the recipe, you CAN use a regular 8×8 baking pan, but the layers will just be a little thicker which is fine too!
Is Taco Seasoning Keto Friendly?
Regular taco seasoning is generally not keto friendly. Which is why I make my own.
Not only that, but usually packaged mixed seasonings have a lot of other filler garbage that just doesn’t belong.
I like to use my taco and keto fajita seasoning blend as it tastes amazing and most certainly IS keto friendly.
What Can I Dip Into This Keto Dip?
Your fingers? Kidding. Well, sort of. I did take a big scoop of this, but I used a spoon!
Some good scooper options:
Veggies
I guarantee that you won’t care what you scoop it with, you’ll just want to get it to your mouth!
Now, if you are looking for a hearty dip with some meat, be sure to try this taco dip with ground beef! It is just as dippable!
How to Store a 7 Layer Dip
I simply wrapped saran wrap around the baking dish and stored it in the fridge. You could also scoop it into an airtight container as well to save space.
It will stay fresh for 3-4 days, but I ate it longer after that! Shhhh!!!!
Make sure to keep it cold and don’t let it sit out on the counter for TOO long.
How To Make Keto 7 Layer Dip
Prepare the roasted garlic keto hummus according to instructions and let cool.
Spread the hummus in the bottom of an 8×10 pan. You can use an 8×8 pan and make it thicker if you wish.
In a small bowl, combine the sour cream and taco seasoning. Mix well. It should combine easily!
Carefully spread the sour cream mixture on top of the hummus layer.
Next, you’ll want to add the shredded cheese on top of the sour cream layer.
Finally, add olives. jalapenos, and optional tomatoes.
Serve!
