What is Shakeology

Shakeology is a whole food based superfood shake, made by BODi (formerly Beachbody)! It is your daily dose of all the things you didn’t even know you needed. Each serving contains essential amino acids, vitamins, minerals, proteins, adaptogens, prebiotics, probiotics, phytonutrients, antioxidants, fiber and so much more. Ok, that’s the boring stuff.

Some of that you might now even know what it means. And that is ok! You WILL know by the end of this article.

Let’s start with this. In Western society, we have what is called the “Standard American Diet”, appropriately nicknamed SAD. This is a society where people will question the safety of a health food supplement, yet feed their kids McDonalds. Now, I’m not knocking McDonalds, I even take my kids there on occasion. But you get my point.

Subpar nutrition is normal and when you step outside that, suddenly you are on a “diet” or following some “crazy thing”. Suboptimal health is normal.

Most people don’t even know what it is like to wake up with energy and KEEP that energy throughout the day. Or to go through the day without brainfog. Sound familiar?

Shakeology steps in and starts delivering support for our cells, our gut, our brains, our bodies, literally EVERYTHING.* And suddenly we feel better, we look better, we ARE better. Thanks to Shakeology.

Is Shakeology Low Carb?

Now, if you are from my keto and low carb family, you may have a few questions. First, let me say that YES Shakeology is low carb and YES it can fit into a keto lifestyle. I suggest you head over and quickly read my article Is Shakeology Keto Friendly and them meet me back here.

How to Consume Shakeology

The most common way to consume Shakeology is to drink it. Use it as a meal replacement shake or as a snack. Add some fun ingredients to it like nut butter, cacao, avocado…. and BOOM!

BUT, there is another way and that is through dessert! Stay tuned for a TON of Shakeology desserts coming your way. At the time of writing this, I made some Chocolate truffles and a Cafe Latte pudding. Both using Shakeology. So yummy!

Shakelogy and Cravings

What about Shakeology and weight loss or cravings? According to this peer-reviewed study, Shakeology was shown to help curb cravings. This is incredibly important when we venture off into a weight loss program or a healthier eating program since our bodies are often used to eating things we are addicted to.

It was shown that Shakeology:

  • Reduced the desire to eat by 58%
  • Reduced hunger by 51%
  • Helped 25+ year old participants eat 180 fewer calories when eating their next meal

That is pretty amazing, right? This is not anecdotal evidence either, it was from an actual peer-reviewed study.

Benefits of Shakeology

There are so many benefits of Shakeology that it is hard to just name a few. Let’s walk through the larger benefits of Shakeology, shall we?

Protein Blend

The protein blend contains all of the essential amino acids. This blend can support the creation of lean muscle mass as well as combat hunger and cravings.*

Adaptogen Blend

Adaptogens, in some form or another, have been used for thousands and thousands of years. They have many functions, but a few important ones are to help how we adapt and respond to stress.*

Stress is all too common in our daily lives.

Digestive Blend

This blend really supports our gut, digestion, and regularity.*

This is where I noticed the most difference when I first started drinking Shakeology. Keto has a tendency to make our digestion system unpredictable, with either loose stools or constipation. I tend to oscillate between the two. Within 3 days of drinking Shakeology and not changing anything else, I was regular again. The kind of regular where you don’t even need toilet paper (as it should be).

Check out this video on why we should care about gut health. Such an important topic these days.

Antioxidant Blend

I think we’ve all heard of antioxidants, right? This blend has powerful antioxidants that, of course, help fight the free radicals doing damage in the body.*

Supergreen Blend

Our cells need some tender loving care. And that is what the Supergreen blend does. In turn, it helps support health and vitality.*

Vitamins and Minerals

A huge blend of vitamins and minerals offers support for the immune system and energy metabolism.*

Shakeologoy Benefits Conclusion

As you can see, Shakeology not only reaps the benefits from its whole food base, but the types of whole foods take it to a whole other level.

Shakeology is not just some protein or meal replacement shake. It is a nutrient dense blend of over 60+ ingredients to support whole body and mind health.

Why Do We Need Shakeology

Do you mean, aside from all the things we’ve already talked about? Well, mainly because most of us simply don’t get the nutrients that our bodies need. We don’t eat the way we should, the soil is not like it used to be, processed foods run rampant in our diet and so many other things.

Our bodies need a whole food based meal like Shakeology.
