Chocolate Shakelogy Truffles
The word is out! Dessert every day! I can get on board with that. Yep, I certainly can! The cool thing about using Shakeology in desserts like this is that it allows people who are low carb to enjoy the health benefits of Shakeology without worrying whether or not they will make their macros or not.
Not sure what Shakeology is? Take a quick scroll over to my article What is Shakeology and read all about it. Then come back and see the fun stuff you can do with it besides using it for a meal!
I have a similar recipe, keto truffles, that uses sweetener and doesn’t use Chocolate Shakeology. There is only a minor difference in carb count and with this version, you get a bite full of nutrients and whole food goodness that doesn’t come in the keto version. Truthfully, this chocolate Shakeology truffles recipe is actually keto too!
What Makes a Chocolate a Truffle?
The heavy cream and chocolate of course! Truffles are so simple to make and there are so many variations out there. As long as you have the chocolate and heavy cream as a base, you are good to go.
What is Needed to Make Chocolate Shakeology Truffles?
Here is a list of items need to make these delicious low carb chocolate Shakeology Truffles:
- Recipe ingredients (below in the recipe card)
- Medium Size Mixing Bowl
- Mixing Spatula
- Saucepan
- Cookie Dough Scooper
How to Make Chocolate Shakeology Truffles
Place the baking chips, peanut butter, and Shakeology in a medium mixing bowl.
Add the heavy whipping cream and butter to a saucepan and heat over medium heat. Bring to a low boil. Remove the cream and butter mixture from the heat and whisk in the vanilla.
Pour the heated mixture over the chocolate Shakeology mixture and whisk until smooth and creamy.
It will get thick fast so you may need to use some hand strength to keep mixing to get those chocolate chips melted.
Cover and put the mixture in the fridge to set for several hours to set.
Use a small cookie scoop to portion out and roll the truffles into balls.
Place the truffles back into the fridge to set for 1 hour before serving. Dust with some unsweetened cocoa or cacao powder if desired.
Tips for Making Chocolate Shakeology Truffles
I have a few tips that will really help with your experience making these delicious chocolate truffles.
Stir Quickly
When you pour the warm heavy cream and butter mixture over the chocolate chip mixture, it is going to cool fast and start hardening. You want to stir hard and fast! So be prepared to use a little muscle if needed to get it done quickly!
Use a Cookie Dough or Melon Scoop
This is a game changer! The mixture gets rather hard when it cools and that is the point. So using a scooper makes your job a LOT easier to make the balls. I usually scoop some up, drop it in my hand mostly in ball form and continue rolling it out in my hand.
Use Molds
Now, if you have small molds, you can also use those. You can pour the warm mixture right into the molds and put the molds in the fridge! This is a beautiful hack to save time and to save a step.
How to Store Chocolate Shakeology Truffles
You can store these right in the fridge. You don’t want to leave them out on the counter for too long as they will get soft. I generally don’t even cover them when I store them because I know they will be eaten quickly.
But if feel they will be in your fridge for more than a day or so, I would suggest putting them in an airtight container so they will last longer.
What Can I Replace Shakeology With?
If you don’t have any Shakeology on hand, you can either replace it with a chocolate protein powder, or you can head over to my keto truffles recipe and use that one.
If you need to order more Shakeology, then I would buy the Chocolate Shakeology or the Vegan Chocolate Shakeology. These bags will be one month’s supply. Totally worth it since each scoop is also a meal replacement!
