Keto Chicken Fricassee

One of my favorite ways to cook really any meat is to “brown” the outside first and then finish cooking in a thick and delicious creamy sauce.

Even my hubby will sear (is that the right word???) the outside of a roast before putting it in the crockpot. He likes to keep the juices in the meat.

This keto chicken fricassee is beautifully seared on both sides before finishing up cooking in a creamy white wine sauce packed full of seasonings and topped with veggies.

A dinner the entire family will love.

What Does Chicken Fricassee Mean?

According to TheSpruceEats, Fricassee is a hybrid method of cooking chicken in which you first cook it using a dry method first, followed by a wet method.

With this Keto Chicken Fricassee recipe, we saute the chicken first (dry method) and then follow it with cooking in a creamy white sauce (wet method).

Many people think “fricassee” is a particular taste rather than a cooking style! Learning something new every day, right?

Can I Substitute Other Vegetables?

You sure can! It works best with traditional stew type vegetables, namely onions, celery and carrots. Some argue that carrots are “not keto”, but I beg to differ. Especially when it is only one carrot in a dinner made for 4!

Carrots can be a healthy addition to any keto lifestyle, especially when limited to small amounts.

How to Store Chicken Fricassee

If there are leftovers, you can store the chicken (along with the sauce) together in an airtight container. Make sure to keep it refrigerated.

To reheat, you can either use a microwave or heat it over the stove.
