Spicy Tofu Preparation Tips

Tofu generally needs a little extra preparation before cooking. Here are some tofu preparation tips to help your recipe come together the best.

Drain the Liquid

Tofu is packed in water to help preserve its freshness, but this water needs to be drained before cooking. Remove the tofu from the packaging and then drain all of the liquid out.

Press the Tofu

Next it’s time to press the tofu. If you don’t happen to own a tofu press, you can wrap the tofu in paper towels (or a kitchen towel) and place a skillet or something heavy on it. Leave it for roughly 30 minutes.

Slice the Tofu

Now that you have pressed the tofu, it’s time to slice it up! With this recipe, it’s best to cutting it into cubes.

Season As You Go

One of the great things about tofu is that it absorbs the flavors that you prepare it with. Some recipes call for marinating, but you don’t need to worry about that with this recipe. This one just calls for you to season it as you go. The delicious flavors soak in and blend very well!
