To make this recipe, you need very little as far as tools go! Including the list of ingredients, you need just the following list of tools:
How to Make Creamy Tuscan Salmon
In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat and season the salmon with salt and pepper to taste. Add the salmon to the skillet and sear it on both sides until cooked through. Set aside and keep warm.
Melt the butter in the skillet over medium heat. Add in the onions and saute until softened. Mix in the tomato paste, basil, garlic, and roasted red peppers and stir to combine. Saute for 1 minute. Whisk in the heavy whipping cream and saute until the sauce begins to thicken.
Toss in the spinach and simmer until wilted. Stir in the Parmesan cheese. Return the salmon to the skillet and add the sauce over the fillets before serving.
What Type of Skillet Should Be Used for This Tuscan Salmon Recipe?
You can use any type of skillet for this recipe. However, I highly recommend a quality Cast Iron Skillet, as the sear just seems to work a little bit better on those. I have found it perfect for that delicious flaky salmon that we all love so much.
Is Creamy Tuscan Salmon Keto-Friendly?
This is a healthy and keto-friendly meal, but be mindful of carb counts in other Tuscan-inspired recipes, as not all ingredients will be keto-friendly.
This recipe has just six net carbs per serving, which means that it is definitely keto friendly!
How Long Does it Take to Make this Easy Tuscan Salmon?
I may have mentioned this before, but I love skillet meals. Not only are they quicker to make, but they also require less cleanup. This is an awesome recipe for busy nights because it takes just 10 minutes to prep and a max of 25 minutes of cooking time!
Substitutions
This is a delicious salmon recipe, but if you feel it needs just a little something extra, you can make variations to create the best salmon recipe for you.
- Swap Out the Olive Oil for Avocado Oil – Olive oil is delicious and healthy, but avocado oil also works with this recipe. If your preference is to use it instead, then have at it.
- Use Wild-Caught Salmon – Most salmon purchased in the grocery store is farmed salmon. I recommend using wild salmon when you can, though. Using wild salmon is not only tastier than farmed salmon, but it is also healthier! Wild salmon is higher in minerals, calcium, iron, and omega-3s.
- Serve With Cauliflower Rice – If you are trying to figure out what to serve with this keto creamy Tuscan garlic salmon, just whip up some cauliflower rice! It is a great side dish for keto dinners!
- Use Fresh Spinach – Fresh spinach is far superior to canned or frozen. The flavor is simply unmatched. I really like baby spinach for this particular recipe.
How to Store Leftover Salmon Filets
If you end up having leftover salmon, you are so lucky! This is a delicious leftover recipe. Just be sure and let the salmon cool to room temperature and store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
