BURGERS! Who doesn’t love burgers? Here is a fun spin to your traditional bunless bacon cheeseburger.
My kiddos love the combination of ground turkey and ground pork as well as the green onions. Now if I were to offer them green onions outside of a burger, they would turn their nose up and refuse. But they love the flavor that it gives the burgers.
You can cook these however you like, but we have a Traeger (smoker) and just love how meats turn out.
You can put whatever (keto) topping on it that you like, but what we used tonight hit the spot!
The following made 16 randomly sized burgers!
Ingredients:
- 3 lbs ground turkey
- 1 lb ground pork
- 1/2 teaspoon Chipotle
- 1/4 teaspoon sage
- 1/2 teaspoon dried minced garlic
- 1/3 cup diced green onions
(Optional toppings)
- 1 red pepper
- 3 avocados
- 1 onion
- 1 Tomato (optional – we had non-keto people for dinner who ate the tomato)
- 1 Tablespoon Olive oil
- 6 slices of bacon (see Perfect Bacon recipe)
- Cheese
- Eggs
The fun part:
Cook bacon however you like, I prefer the Perfect Bacon recipe.
In a large bowl, mix turkey, pork, green onions, chipotle, sage, and garlic together. Mix WELL!
Form whatever sized patties that you want and cook them on the grill or smoker. My hubby likes to make patties of all sizes!
Meanwhile:
- Heat olive oil over medium heat and saute pepper slices for about 5-7 minutes.
- Slice avocados
- Slice tomato
- Cook some over medium eggs
- Arrange toppings plate
We ate ours without buns, topped with cheese, egg, bacon, avocado, and peppers. Eat with a knife and fork.
Our guests used the tomatoes!
