Special Keto Cajun Spice Mix

I was working on a recipe for The Keto Option Family Edition cookbook.  Well, let me back up.  If you have not heard about my project, let me tell you quickly!  I am working on a 3 part cookbook series called The Keto Option.  It is made up of 3 books: Dessert Edition, Family Edition, and Freezer Edition.

I also have The Keto Option Exclusive Membership where you get access to PRE-RELEASED recipes – CHECK IT OUT!

ANYWAY, I was working on a recipe for the Family Edition book and I needed a cajun spice.  The spice is optional, of course, since not all kiddos can handle spice.  BUT, mine can and I know some families start spice early.

So I did some trial and error to find the perfect blend of spices to constitute a cajun spice.  And that I did!  The perfect blend.

Now, below is a beautiful picture, right?  Do you notice anything missing?  Sigh….

I put the ingredients in there, took some pictures, mixed it up, took some more pictures and went on my way.  Until…. I realized I forgot the cayenne.

Just pretend the red shown below is a mix of paprika AND cayenne.  Never fear, I did add it before completing the recipe taste test.

Keto Cajun Spice

I love having spice mixes on hand.  A variety of mixes.  There are so many packaged spice mixes that contain sugar, corn products and even gluten.

I always had 2 types of spice mixes on hand:

Krug’s Spice (basically, a general spice rub for any occasion) – a fun mix of pepper, chipotle pepper, ginger, onion powder, garlic powder, and sage.  We use this as a meat rub primarily.

Fajita Spice – even though I named this fajita spice, it is more all-purpose than that.  I use it for fajitas and burritos bowls mainly.  It is a mix of cumin, chili powder, sage, garlic powder, paprika, basil, chipotle chili powder, salt and cinnamon (yes cinnamon).

And NOW, I have 3 spice blends that are must in my kitchen.

This one, though, packs quite a punch so be prepared (in the best way)!

Let’s jump right into this spicy blend of goodness!
