Keto Pizza and Low Carb Marinara Sauce
I created my first keto pizza tonight. My own recipe – a twist on fathead dough was the base and it was AMAZING. I mean UHHHH-MAZING!
Making your own keto pizza sauce can make all the difference. Traditional pizza sauces are rather high in carbs.
So, off I went to create something…. Something with a little kick but not with an overwhelming non-pizza-sauce flavor. But here’s the thing, the lasagna marinara sauce that I had already created can really double as both. It is amazingly versatile.
Sauce and tomatoes are tough, though. While I don’t believe we need to stay away from tomatoes, I do think we need to be mindful of the carb count in them no matter how we eat them.
This keto pizza sauce turned out to be quite versatile. I’m thinking it might even be my sauce of choice to dip this keto flatbread into. Hmm…. Why not?

Without further ado, let’s dive into the flavors of choice for this sauce.
Low Carb Pizza Sauce Flavors
Fire Roasted Tomatoes – if you want to spice up tomatoes, this is the way to do it. AND you can buy it!
This just adds a, well, fire flavor. Not too spicy, but just enough!
Italian Seasoning – I chose Italian Seasoning because this is keto PIZZA SAUCE! And because Italian Seasoning just makes everything taste better, right?
Garlic and Onion – What don’t you use these spices with? Anyone?
What Do You Need to Make This Keto Pizza Sauce
Food Processor – I use my Ninja to chop up the tomato chunks.
See, I’m one of those weird people who LOVES a good pizza sauce or marinara sauce, but I cannot stand tomatoes. I refuse to eat them whole or even eat chunks.
So, for all those out there like me, you’ll be happy to know this sauce has NO chunks!
Sauce/Frying Pan – This sauce calls for heating it up to blend the flavors. I use a frying pan so it is wide, but you can use a regular saucepan as well.
Mason Jars – if you plan to store any of this sauce, it keeps very well in mason jars!

How to Make Keto Pizza Sauce
Add fire roasted tomatoes, tomato sauce, and tomato paste to a food processor or blender.
Blend well to remove the chunks.
Pour into a saucepan and add the remaining ingredients.
Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring often.
Use or store in an airtight container.
Is This Keto Pizza Sauce High in Carbs?
As I said above, tomato-based sauces can be high in carbs. Even some keto ones. The serving size for this is 1/4 cup and it is about 1.8 net carbs. Which really is not too bad.
It makes about 2 cups, so there are 8 servings.
Another low carb and delicious sauce is this authentic Neapolitan pizza sauce and it is a no-cook sauce which is a bonus!
