Keto Biscuits and Gravy
Biscuits and Gravy is kind of a classic. My husband is a Biscuits and Gravy fanatic. Imagine his surprise and absolute joy when I told him I was going to make an absolutely drool-worthy KETO biscuits and gravy!
Mu hubby was floored. I’m pretty sure we ate this 3 times in one week for dinner and possibly one other time for breakfast if I recall correctly. You can’t make up that kind of devotion!
These keto biscuits and gravy are great for any time, but my favorite is having them for dinner and breakfast.
How to Make Keto Biscuits and Gravy
Biscuits
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, add almond flour, xanthan gum, sea salt, garlic powder and baking soda. Combine well.
To the large bowl, add cheddar cheese, chives, and eggs. Mix well. A wooden spatula or your hands work best.
Add in the cold butter chunks and use your hands to combine. Trust me, its the best way!
Divide into 12 balls and place on the prepared baking sheet.
Flatten the dough just a bit then bake for 22 minutes.
Meanwhile, prepare gravy.
Gravy
Add bone broth, butter, pepper, garlic powder, Italian Seasoning to a medium saucepan. Heat over medium heat to melt butter.
When the butter is melted, add heavy whipping cream and xanthan gum and briskly whisk until it reaches a soft boil and begins to thick. About 3-5 minutes. It is ok if chunks form initially, the whisking will take care of that.
Turn heat down to simmer and continue to simmer for 10 minutes, stirring often.
Serve gravy over biscuits and enjoy!
Can I Add Sausage?
You bet you can! In fact, most people do! I wanted a flexible recipe that tasted amazing either way.
If you would like to add sausage, simply add 1 pound of ground sausage, browned, into the gravy once it is done cooking. Mix well and you are good to go!
Most people seem to prefer keto biscuits and gravy with sausage but there are some that do not, hence the original recipe! Easily modifiable, though, to add some delicious sausage!
Is Gravy Keto Friendly?
This particular gravy is most certainly keto friendly! Your regular, run of the mill gravy would generally not be considered keto. Some might, but I wouldn’t count on it.
This gravy was specifically designed to be gluten free, keto and absolutely delicious!
What to Eat With Keto Biscuits and Gravy
Where to start? For starters, let’s talk about WHEN to eat keto biscuits and gravy. The easy answer is ANYTIME! We’ve eaten them for breakfast, lunch and dinner! You name it, we’ve had it.
So, now let’s talk about what to eat with the keto biscuits and gravy!
Sausage
Eggs
Steak
Hashbrowns
Veggies
BACON
<insert any food here and I’m pretty sure biscuits and gravy will compliment it!>
How to Store Keto Biscuits and Gravy
I would store the biscuits and gravy individually. If you’ve already poured the gravy over the biscuits, never fear, it will still store fine but the biscuits may become mushy due to soaking up the liquid.
Store each in an airtight container in the fridge, warm up individually and then combine!
If you don’t have any gravy, then check out the sauce/glaze in the keto biscuits recipe!
