Coffee Creamer Alternative
You are here because you probably want to stop adding 1,000 calories to your morning coffee, right? That is where my husband was last year when he realized just how many calories he was consuming with creamer alone. He drinks about 5 cups a day and was just pouring the creamer into each cup.
When struggling to lose weight, he figured it out quickly.
It became clear that we needed another solution to his morning (or all day) coffee habit. We came up with several fun, tasty, and more than acceptable creamer alternatives for coffee. You might just find your new favorite here.
Tools Needed
You don’t need tools unless you are using a powder that you need to blend. If that is the case, then I suggest either a Magic Bullet which is small, portable, and very cheap. Another even cheaper option is a frother.
How to make the perfect coffee creamer alternative
Most people think of creamer as, well, cream. Cream is often quite high in calories and is not a good option for some people. I happen to love fat so it is not the fat that bothers me, but it is true that fat is higher in calories than protein or carbs.
So if you are looking at watching your calories and want your morning coffee to leave a smaller footprint (or gut print) then you are in the right place.
I’m sure you’ve heard of MudWtr that can be used as a coffee replacement. But have you tried our homemade MudWtr that works alongside your coffee? If not, you are in for a treat.
All you need to do is whip up a batch of the delicious homemade MudWtr and then add it to a blender with your coffee and blend it up. Or if it is more convenient, then use a frother. I have been known to spray my kitchen walls, so be careful!
Other creamer alternatives for coffee
Flavored stevia
Aside from using our homemade MudWtr, flavored stevia is my husband’s favorite. This multi-flavored bundle from Amazon includes all great choices for coffee flavorings: vanilla, chocolate, original, caramel, and toffee.
Milk alternatives
Many milk alternatives are relatively low in sugar, yet big on flavor. Good choices for coffee are almond milk, coconut milk, and oat milk. Oat milk is higher in carbs so beware how much you use.
Protein powder
Lastly, protein powder is a great choice. If you are going to use protein powder, I suggest using a blender or a frother to make sure it is blended well. This can really up the nutritional value of your morning coffee.
Final Thoughts
If you are in the market for a coffee creamer alternative, chances are there is a good reason. The biggest culprit behind most high calorie, unhealthy coffee cream alternatives is the fact that they are high in carbs and sugar.
Read the label and look for sugar and carb count. Fat content is not as much of a concern as sugar, so start there first!
