Keto Pecan Pralines
I love pecans. All things pecans! But even more than the enjoyment I get from a handful of pecans for a snack is the enjoyment I get from a delicious keto pecan dessert.
These keto pecan pralines are not only a tasty dessert but are also a great snack.
The best part is that this keto pecan recipe contains only 5 ingredients and can be made in under 15 minutes. Double score, right?
RIGHT!
How to Make Keto Pecan Pralines
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spray with nonstick spray.
Add butter to a medium saucepan and heat over medium heat.
We want to brown the butter, so the first thing to do is to bring it to a soft boil. It will start to brown and that is what you want.
Do not stir too much and make sure the heat isn't too high such that it burns. It should reach a deep caramel color after about 5 to 7 minutes.
Remove from heat and add in the sweetener and whisk until combined.
Add vanilla extract and heavy whipping cream to the saucepan. Mix well.
Finally, add pecans to the pot and stir gently.
Scoop pecans (as big or small of piles as you want) onto the prepared baking sheet and refrigerate to set.
Are Pecans Keto Friendly?
They most certainly are! 100g of pecans is a piddly 4g of net carbs. On the lower end with respect to nuts.
Nuts are a great addition to a healthy keto diet and I eat them daily!
AND this easy keto dessert is LOADED with healthy pecans.
Health Benefits of Pecans
As I said, pecans are one of my favorite low carb nuts. I also love cashews but they are quite a bit high in carbs, so I try to stick to pecans more often than cashews.
Remember, 100g of pecans are only 4 net carbs!
According to Healthline, Pecans have some pretty cool benefits! Two things that are quite noteworthy.
- Pecans have been showed to potentially lower bad cholesterol [2].
- Pecans contain compounds that act as antioxidants (which I think I could probably use some more of).
All in all, pecans are a great, low carb choice for a healthy snack AND to be a part of a healthy keto dessert such as these keto pecan pralines.
How to Store Keto Pecan Pralines
You will definitely want to keep these cool in the refrigerator.
Once they are cooled, I would store them in an airtight container in the fridge! Properly stored, they will last for at least 3-4 days (to be on the safe side)
How Long Does it Take for Keto Pecan Pralines to Set?
If put into the fridge, it takes only 10-20 minutes to set!
Can I Freeze Pecan Pralines?
You most certainly can! If you are going to freeze them, I suggest waiting until they are fully cool and fully set.
Remove the air from the container and freeze!
