Ingredients
  

For the meatballs

  • 1 ½ pounds natural ground Italian sausage
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup crushed pork rind crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon basil
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese shredded
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the sauce

  • 15 ounces crushed tomatoes no sugar added
  • ½ cup broth
  • ½ teaspoon basil
  • ½ teaspoon oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon rosemary
  • 2 teaspoons low carb powdered sweetener
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • ½ onion chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions
 

  • In a medium bowl, add the meatball ingredients and knead well until combined.
  • Form the meat mixture into evenly sized 2-3 inch round meatballs.
  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium high heat.
  • Sear the meatballs on all sides and place them into the bottom of the Crockpot.
  • In another skillet, melt the butter and saute the onions until softened.
  • Add the onions and remaining sauce ingredients to a bowl and spoon over the meatballs in the Crockpot.
  • Place the lid on the Crockpot and cook on high for 3 hours.
