I want to be healthy.
I want to lose weight.
I want to feel better.
I want clear skin.
But, I like my pasta and donuts.
Right??? Let’s face it if donuts were healthy and I could forget everything I know, you can be certain that I would drive myself to Krispy Kreme and eat a dozen donuts. Seriously. Right. This. Minute!!!
Like Neo though, I took the red pill (The Matrix movie – please tell me you love this movie too) and I can’t turn back.
The truth is, if you eat a lot of sugar you are almost certainly in a state of addiction. Did you know that sugar is 8x more addictive than cocaine? Your body craves it, desires it, and your mind will even lie to you to get it. Why do you think you love it so much? It isn’t real love. Real love is supportive, fulfilling, selfless, caring, and anything but dangerous. While you might feel like you love donuts, they don’t love you back. Your mind will tell you they do, but the fact of the matter is that it is a one-sided addictive love that will never do anything for you besides take your money, your favorite jeans, your self-esteem and even your health.
Your best bet is to bite the bullet and get that sugar withdrawal over with. NOW.
When you feed your body whole, nutritious foods, you will begin to crave the foods that support your health vs steal it. It won’t happen overnight, most likely not a week, maybe not even a month. Before you know it though, you’ll be slicing some red peppers and dipping them in hummus for your afternoon snack instead of reaching for that candy bar.
Find your truth and your real motivation. Do you want to feel better? Then let that be your guiding light and drown out those dark lies that your sugar addicted self is telling you.
